No - I haven't lost it or had too much sun. I'm introducing a new concept for us all to use.
Mango Dream
A Mango Dream is something that you should know isn't true or real but you're accepting it on face value.
This came from a recent holiday when I was drinking Mango Juice for Breakfast. I commented to my wife that I thought it was really nice and she said "you do know it's fake right?". My response was: "Oh no - you've just ruined my Mango Dream". Hence the phrase and concept was born. I should have know that I was drinking chemically derived product, but chose instead to have my Mango Dream.
So what are your Mango Dreams?
I believe the 70:20:10 concept might be a bit of a Mango Dream for me...
Well, if by that you mean 'things which folks think to be true that just aren't' well, there's a great study by Cisco which soundly rubbishes the whole 'cone of learning' nonsense and it's oft-cited 'we remember 10% of what we hear' hooey. See here for more.
Would you believe - 4 years back I attended a full 3 days workshop on that BS? Conducted by the Singapore E-learning Competency Center (the organization, funded by Infocomm dev. authority of Singapore - history now)
Going through my old mails - found the topic of the workshop : "The Singapore ECC provides a model of providing practical support for the development of high quality, interoperable e-learning." LOL!
